Heym and Todoist: similarities and differences
The daily list
This part works like Todoist, down to labels, priorities, repeating tasks and dates typed in plain words.
- InboxTasks you haven't given a date or a place yet.
- TodayWhat's due today, as a list or on a calendar.
- UpcomingEverything due in the days and weeks ahead.

Life planning
Todoist has no match for this part of the sidebar. It's where you decide what your tasks are for.
- AreasSport & Health, Money & Finance and the other parts of your life, each on its own page.
- GoalsWhat you want to reach, with a deadline and a progress bar.
- HabitsRoutines like a morning run, linked to the goal they serve.
- NotesLinked to the goal or area they're about.

How Heym links life areas, goals, habits and tasks
It starts with a part of your life. In Health, you write down the life you want.
That turns into a goal you can reach. Tasks, habits and notes all link back to it.
Then you add what you'll repeat. Every run is a step toward the race, not just a box to tick.
Now your tasks have a reason. You see the goal behind each one, so you know what comes first.
Change coverHealth
Stay fit enough to say yes to anything. Strong knees at 60, energy left after work, and a race on the calendar every year.

Run my first half-marathon
Switched from todoist after 4 years. Used it as an inbox the whole time which was on me, not the tool. heym just won't let you do that. You need to actively thing about why you are doing the things you are doing.

Checked against todoist.com/pricing and Todoist's help center on 27 October 2026. A red cross in the Todoist column means we couldn't find it in Todoist's own docs, which doesn't prove it's missing. See something wrong? Email support@heym.app.

01
Write your life vision
Pick the parts of your life that matter and write down where you want each one to go.
02

Frequently asked questions
Can Heym replace Todoist?
For one person planning their own work and life, yes. Heym has an Inbox, Today and Upcoming, projects with sections, labels, priorities and repeating tasks. It doesn't have subtasks yet. It runs in the browser and as a Mac app. An iPhone app is coming soon and an Android app is planned.
Is Heym more complicated than Todoist?
Not for the daily list. You add a task in one line, with a date in plain words, a label and a priority, and plan your day from Today as you would in Todoist. Goals, habits and life areas sit above your tasks, and you use as much of them as you like.
Do I have to set goals to use Heym?
No. You can use Heym as a plain task list. Skip the goals step when you sign up, make Inbox or Today your start page, and hide Goals, Habits and Areas in the sidebar until you want them. Every account still starts with a set of life areas.
Does Todoist have goals?
Not goals you plan toward. Todoist ran a Goals beta and retired it on 13 July 2026. It still has daily and weekly task targets through Karma, and it shows progress project by project, with Project Insights on Pro. Nothing links those projects to a bigger goal.
Does Heym sync with my calendar?
Not yet. Heym has its own calendar with 4-day, week and month views, and you can drag tasks onto it to block time. Your Google or Outlook events don't show up in it yet. Todoist does connect to both.
Is Heym free?
Yes, with limits. The free plan has unlimited tasks and a few goals, projects and habits. Pro removes those limits for €30 a year or €5 a month. See the pricing page.
Can I import my tasks from Todoist?
Yes. Export each Todoist project as a CSV, then open Settings, Import, Todoist in Heym. Projects, sections, dates, repeating dates, priorities, labels, descriptions and comments come along. Subtasks arrive as separate tasks that name their parent. You see a preview first, and it flags anything that won't land as written, such as repeating dates from a Todoist account in another language. Completed tasks, reminders and assignees stay in Todoist. The free plan holds a few projects, so send the rest to your Inbox or upgrade to Pro.
